The only Part of Her He Loved

She was standing outside his door,

The sun was setting,

To the darkest night ever.

She could almost feel its touch,

And heavy clouds over her head

As she kept wondering,

Which part of her he loved.

He stood at the door,

His eyes full of brown lies,

Dilemma dripping from his lips.

Shame covering his face

But he hid it with his preciously curved smile,

Making it harder for her to know

Which part of her he loved.

Deep into the night,

She still stood outside,

She could strain to see through the clouds,

If only she could see a star of hope

But she had to wait for the sun to come out.

Then maybe she could know

Which part of her he loved.

Just about dawn,

Strong winds blew,

And heavy rain fell,

Soaking her hair and shrinking it

Tears cut through her wet cheeks

As she wondered

If the hair was the only part of her he loved.

She stretched her arm to reach out to him,

Hoping he would help warm her,

His hands were full and he couldn\’t let go,

And he chose to just watch her

As she shivered and quiver

Her heartbeat went slow

Till it came to a stop

With his face in her eyes

As she still wondered

Which part of her he loved.
